Zehra Irem Turksezer is an assistant professor at the Department of Architecture of Kadir Has University, Turkey. She is part of the Building Materials and Technologies research group. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (at Istanbul Technical University), and her MSc degree in Civil Engineering for Risk Mitigation program (at Politecnico di Milano). At the end of her MSc, she won a traineeship position in the European Commission’s Joint Research Center (JRC) to work on natural disaster impacts on critical infrastructures, specifically on power plants. Then she obtained her PhD title from the Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Civil Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, Italy. Her PhD thesis topic was Resilience Management of Historic Structures: bridges and her research interests include resilience management, disaster risk management, complex systems, and resilience modeling in the context of informed decision-making.
