Eng. Giancarlo Costa is a PhD student with a thematic scholarship jointly held by the Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering (DABC) of Politecnico di Milano and the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) in Berlin . He graduated in Civil Engineering from the Politecnico di Torino in 2021 with specialization in structures. He wrote his thesis on Human Structure Interaction (HSI) in the design of pedestrian bridges. During his PhD, he is focusing on the value of information driven innovation in SHM technology, bridge maintenance strategies and Italian Guidelines.
